Grove City falls at Waynesburg
WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 7-16 overall and 3-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday night with a 78-61 loss at Waynesburg in the Rudy Marisa Field House. The defeat snaps Grove City's 22-game winning streak against Waynesburg.
Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led Grove City with 23 points and 13 rebounds. It is her seventh double-double of the season and her sixth straight game with double-digit points.
Freshman forward Mallory Skarupa (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) made her first career start and contributed eight points and five rebounds.
Waynesburg jumped out to a 41-29 lead by halftime. The Yellow Jackets drained eight first-half three-pointers and finished the game 11-for-22 behind the three-point line.
Katie Lewandowski led Waynesburg with 26 points, including six three-pointers. Denise Kennedy added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg owned a 42-35 advantage on the glass.
Grove City will host Bethany Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. in PAC action.
