Wolverines fall at Case Western

CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 70-58 decision to host Case Western Reserve (5-1) Saturday night in non-conference action at the Veale Center.

Junior guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) fired in a season-high 21 points for the Wolverines (0-5). She also distributed a team-high four assists. Junior center Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) tossed in 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds while senior guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added a dozen points.

Grove City trailed 38-28 at the half. Case quickly extended the lead to 44-28 early in the second half, but the Wolverines countered with a 19-9 spurt. Bogusz scored seven of her 12 points during the run while a McCoy basket cut the lead to 53-47 with six minutes left.

Grove City limited Case to just 34 percent shooting from the floor (25 of 73). The Wolverines allowed 22 offensive rebounds, though, and were out-rebounded 47-41. Grove City also turned the ball over 29 times.

Dana Dempsey led the Spartans with 18 points and six steals.

Grove City will host Juniata Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in non-conference action.
