Point Park nips Grove City, 68-66

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. -- Point Park guard Brittney Wilson banked in an off-balance three-pointer with four seconds left, giving the host Pioneers a 68-66 win over Grove City in non-conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Community College of Allegheny County-South.

Grove City (2-8) had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but a three-point attempt by junior center Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) glanced off the rim.

Wilson connected on five three-pointers in the second half and led all scorers with 22 points. Senior guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) led the Wolverines with 16 points while junior Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) added 14 points. Junior forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

A Bogusz three-pointer tied the game at 64-64 with 1:36 left. Bogusz then gave Grove City a two-point lead with a pair of free throws at the 1:07 mark. Point Park (5-5) cut the lead to 66-65 as Charlisa Cummins split a pair of free throws. The Wolverines could not extend their lead on the ensuing possession, however.

Cummins recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds for Point Park. Each team had 37 rebounds. Bogusz led Grove City with nine rebounds. Bogusz and Overdorff both had four assists.

Grove City will visit La Roche Wednesday night in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
