Grove City tops Saint Vincent

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Junior forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) poured in a season-high 24 points while junior guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) added 22 points, helping lift Grove City to a 74-72 win over visiting Saint Vincent in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's basketball action at the Grove City College Arena Saturday afternoon.

Grove City took the lead for good over the final minute with a 6-0 spurt. McCoy tallied a layup and a pair of free throws while Overdorff also hit two free throws, giving Grove City a 74-69 lead with seven seconds left.

Saint Vincent's Laura Klimchock hit a three with one second left but Grove City successfully inbounded the ball, ending the game. Klimchock led all scorers with 31 points.

Grove City (4-10 overall) trailed by seven, 63-56, midway through the second half. The Wolverines rallied to tie the game with five minutes left on a basket from senior Sarah Bray (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway).

Junior forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, helping Grove City own a 34-33 edge on the glass. McCoy added eight rebounds. Grove City also went 18 of 21 at the foul line in the victory.

The game featured 17 ties. The game will not count towards the PAC standings due to Saint Vincent's provisional NCAA Division III status.
