Second half run dooms Grove City
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Host Westminster used a 16-0 run in the second half en route to a 71-50 win over Grove City Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's basketball action at Memorial Field House.
Grove City (4-11, 1-3 PAC) led 38-35 early in the second half but Westminster (11-4, 3-1) took command of the game with that run. Westminster outscored Grove City in the second half, 39-18.
Grove City shot 52 percent (15 of 29) from the floor in the first half. However, Grove City made just 7 of 30 second-half field goal attempts.
Junior center Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led Grove City with 14 points while senior guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added 11. Senior forward Sarah Bray (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.
Desiree Sterling led Westminster with 20 points.
Grove City will visit Thomas More Saturday afternoon in PAC action at 1 p.m.
