Grove City falls at Thomas More, 70-59

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- Three Grove City College women's basketball players scored in double figures Saturday afternoon at Thomas More but the visiting Wolverines fell to the homestanding Saints, 70-59, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action in the Connor Convocation Center.

Junior center Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led all scorers with 22 points. She also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and tied a career high with six assists.

Junior guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) fired in 16 points and recorded four steals while senior guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added 10 points.

Grove City (4-12, 1-4 PAC) trailed 38-29 at halftime but quickly closed the gap to 44-40 early in the second half. However, Thomas More (13-3, 4-1) countered with a 9-0 run and maintained its double-digit lead over the final 12 minutes of the game.

Grove City shot 23 of 60 (38 percent) from the floor while Thomas More drained 28 of 61 (46 percent) attempts. Grove City did own a 36-35 edge on the glass, including 15 offensive rebounds.

Tangie Sellers led the Saints with 14 points while Kristen Humphrey added 11 points.

Grove City will host Washington & Jefferson Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. in PAC action.
