Wolverines fall on road, 57-49

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- Junior guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) fired in a game-high 15 points while freshman Laura Miller (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) added a personal-best 10 points Saturday night but Grove City dropped a 57-49 decision to host Waynesburg in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's basketball action at the Rudy Marisa Field House.

Junior center Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) narrowly missed a triple-double, posting eight points, 10 rebounds and a career-high nine assists. McCoy also blocked four shots for the Wolverines (4-14, 1-6 PAC).

Grove City stormed out to an 11-0 lead but Waynesburg (8-10, 3-4) answered with a 23-8 run. Waynesburg led 23-21 at the break. Grove City took its final lead of the game, 39-38, at the 5:15 mark on a Miller putback. However, the Yellow Jackets grabbed the lead for good on back-to-back three-pointers by Sarah Gossett and Jenna Pratte.

Katie Lewandowski led Waynesburg with 13 points while Michaelene Jones added a dozen points. Waynesburg also owned a 39-37 edge on the glass. Grove City shot 33 percent (19 of 58) from the floor while Waynesburg converted 21 of 54 attempts (39 percent).

Grove City will host PAC rival Thiel Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
