Bethany tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 79-69 decision to visiting Bethany Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action in the Grove City College Arena. Grove City is now 5-15 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

Bethany (7-14, 3-6 PAC) shot 54 percent (32 of 59) from the field, including 8-for-12 accuracy on three-point attempts. Meanwhile, Grove City shot just 37 percent (26 of 71).

Bethany broke the game open late in the second half with a 10-2 run that gave the Bison a 64-55 lead. Bethany led by as many as 13 points down the stretch.

Junior center Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool, Ohio/Beaver Local) led Grove City with 20 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Laura Miller (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) poured in 12 points while senior guard Elyse Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added 10.

Lisa Mitchell led Bethany with a game-high 25 points while Renee Brandenburg added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Bison, who completed a season sweep of Grove City with the win.

Grove City will host Westminster Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. in PAC play.
