Case Western tops Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 2-2 overall Wednesday night with a 55-43 home loss to Case Western Reserve in non-conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
Grove City trailed by just four, 29-25, at halftime and eventually trimmed the lead to 38-35 with 13:40 left. However, Case Western (3-3) took control of the game with a 9-0 run over the next five minutes.
Grove City shot 7 of 32 (22 percent) from the floor in the second half. For the game, the Wolverines shot 27 percent (17 of 63) from the floor.
Junior guard Raeann Szelong (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) led Grove City with 11 points, including three three-point goals. Senior forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Case Western out-rebounded Grove City, 48-41.
Grove City forced 24 turnovers but converted them into just eight points. Ashleigh Tondo led Case Western with 17 points while Ashley Horton recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds. Case Western shot 20 of 59 (34 percent) from the floor.
Grove City will visit Geneva Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
