Chatham downs Grove City

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 66-60 decision to host Chatham Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Chatham Center.

Grove City (3-8, 0-3 PAC) led 38-26 at halftime and extended the lead to 41-27 early in the second half. However, the Wolverines shot just 17 percent (4 of 23) from the floor in the second half. Meanwhile, Chatham (4-5, 1-2) took the lead for good with three minutes left and finished the game on an 11-4 run.

Freshman guard C.J. Beatty (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Christian) tied a Grove City single-game record with six three-pointers. Beatty led all scorers with a career-high 28 points. Beatty scored 15 of Grove City's 22 second-half points.

The Wolverines shot 7 of 12 (58 percent) behind the three-point line in the first half as Grove City bolted to a 22-9 lead.

Freshman forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Grove City, helping the Wolverines earn a 43-27 edge on the glass. Senior forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) blocked a career-high five shots and also had five steals while senior guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) had five assists.

Barb Petty led Chatham with 14 points.

Grove City will host Thomas More Wednesday at 5 p.m. in conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
