Win streak snapped at five
GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Grove City College women's basketball team had its five-game win streak snapped Saturday afternoon as visiting Washington & Jefferson earned a 68-35 win over the Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at the Grove City College Arena.
Grove City (8-11, 3-6 PAC) shot just 21 percent (14 of 66) from the field against W&J (14-5, 7-2). The Presidents, meanwhile, shot 49 percent (28 of 57) from the floor.
Sophomore Krista Beechy (Winesburg, Ohio/Berlin Hiland) led Grove City with 11 points and nine rebounds. Freshman forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) added eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
Maggie Gibson led W&J with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Presidents jumped out to an 11-0 lead six minutes into the game and never trailed. W&J led 39-19 at halftime and owned a 49-40 rebounding edge for the game.
Grove City will host PAC foe Chatham Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
