Wolverines fall at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 8-13 overall Saturday afternoon with an 82-40 setback at undefeated Thomas More (21-0, 12-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference) in PAC action at the Connor Convocation Center.

Thomas More, the nation's No. 5 team in both the USA TODAY and D3Hoops.com weekly poll, jumped out to a 22-4 lead in the first half. Grove City (3-7 PAC) closed to within 24-14 but Thomas More finished the first half on a 21-2 run.

Thomas More shot 32 of 58 (55 percent) from the field for the game, including a 10-for-20 (50 percent) effort on three-point goals. Grove City shot 32 percent (17 of 53) from the floor.

Junior guard Katy McCready (New Galilee, Pa./Mohawk) led Grove City with a career-high nine points while freshman Jenna Johnston (Strattanville, Pa./Clarion-Limestone) added a career-high eight points for the Wolverines.

Alex Gee led Thomas More with 13 points. The Saints out-rebounded Grove City, 40-25.

Grove City returns to action Wednesday night at Bethany in PAC action at 8 p.m.
