Cold 2nd half dooms Grove City

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 9-15 overall Wednesday night with a 62-57 setback at Saint Vincent in a matchup of Presidents' Athletic Conference teams at the Carey Center.

Grove City led 34-26 at halftime but shot just 22 percent (8 of 37) from the field in the second half. Meanwhile, Saint Vincent shot 52 percent (13 of 25) from the field over the final 20 minutes. For the game, Grove City shot 23 of 58 (34 percent), including a 5-for-23 effort on three-point goals.

Freshman forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) led Grove City with 17 points and eight rebounds while senior guard Shannon Overdorff (Eighty Four, Pa./United) added 13 points and four assists. Senior forward Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, helping Grove City own a 48-33 rebound edge. Twenty-five of Grove City's 48 rebounds came at the offensive end.

Janelle Reed led Saint Vincent (9-15) with 21 points. Saint Vincent committed 20 turnovers while Grove City turned the ball over 27 times.

Grove City will conclude the 2007-08 regular season Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against conference rival Thiel in the Grove City College Arena.
