W&J tops Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference play Monday night with a 63-30 setback against visiting Washington & Jefferson at the Grove City College Arena.
Freshman guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led Grove City with a career-high 13 points. Grove City trailed by just four, 17-13, late in the first half but W&J (4-1, 1-0 PAC) closed the half on an 11-3 run. The Presidents then broke the game open by scoring the first 15 points of the second half.
Grove City shot 19 percent (9 for 47) from the field. The Wolverines also committed 26 turnovers. Sophomore forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) pulled in a game-high 10 rebounds for the Wolverines. W&J out-rebounded Grove City, 44-31. Slater added four steals for Grove City.
W&J shot 28 of 56 (50 percent) for the game. Kennan Killeen led W&J with 15 points while Emily Hays added 14.
Grove City (0-5, 0-1 PAC) will host Geneva Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
