Cold 2nd half dooms Grove City

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 74-41 decision to No. 9 Thomas More Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Connor Convocation Center.

Grove City (4-8, 1-3) trailed by just four, 25-21, at halftime. However, the Wolverines struggled from the field in the second half as Grove City made 7 of 37 (19 percent) of its shots from the field over the final 20 minutes. Conversely, Thomas More (11-1, 5-0) shot 69 percent (20 of 29) from the floor in the second half.

Grove City led by as many as 10, 21-11, in the first half before Thomas More rallied to take the lead by halftime.

Freshman guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led Grove City with 12 points in her first collegiate start. Sophomore forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) added 11 points. Slater also grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Grove City shot 17 of 67 (25 percent) from the field for the game while Thomas More shot 55 percent (30 of 55).

Nicole Dickman led Thomas More with 17 points and nine rebounds while Kristen Humphrey collected 15 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas More out-rebounded Grove City, 42-34. Grove City committed just 11 turnovers while Thomas More had 13 turnovers.

Grove City returns to action Saturday at Bethany in PAC action at Hummel Field House. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
