Saint Vincent tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 10-14 overall Wednesday night with a 60-48 setback against visiting Saint Vincent College (16-7) at the Grove City College Arena.

After five early ties in the game, Saint Vincent broke the game open in the first half with a 16-2 run that gave the Bearcats a 26-12 lead. Saint Vincent then extended the lead to 32-16 by halftime. Grove City, which trailed by as many as 20 early in the second half, cut the lead to 10 on two occasions in the second half. However, the Wolverines could draw no closer.

Sophomore forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) paced Grove City with 16 points and 15 rebounds. It is Slater's Presidents' Athletic Conference-best ninth double-double of the season. She also had a team-high five assists.

Freshman guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) added 11 points for Grove City, which shot 20 of 56 (36 percent) from the field.

Saint Vincent shot 37 percent (21 of 56) from the field. The Bearcats out-rebounded Grove City 40-38. Maria Baroffio led Saint Vincent with a game-high 21 points.

Grove City will wrap up the regular season Saturday at PAC rival Thiel. Tip-off is 1 p.m. The winner of that game will own the No. 4 seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament.
