Saint Vincent tops Grove City
LATROBE, Pa. – The Grove City College women’s basketball team dropped to 7-8 overall Saturday night as the Wolverines dropped a 66-44 decision to host Saint Vincent at the Carey Center.
Saint Vincent (12-3) held Grove City to just 30 percent (16 of 54) shooting from the field. The Wolverines also committed 29 turnovers in the setback. Freshman guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) fired in 14 points for Grove City while junior forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) added 10. Slater also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Saint Vincent took control of the game midway through the first half by going on a 12-0 run that broke an 11-11 tie. Saint Vincent extended the lead to 33-18 by halftime.
Maria Baroffio led Saint Vincent with 17 points. The Bearcats shot 32 percent (23 of 73) from the field. The Bearcats also owned a 52-43 edge on the class. Twenty-five of the rebounds came on the offensive end.
Saturday night’s game does not count in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference standings due to Saint Vincent’s provision membership status in NCAA Division III.Grove City hosts Westminster Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
