Grove City charges past Chatham

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Sophomore guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) fired in a career-high 19 points Wednesday night to help lift the Grove City College women's basketball team to a 57-40 home win over Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena. Grove City is now 7-4 in the PAC and 10-10 overall.

Grove City led 28-23 at halftime but broke the game open with a 15-0 run at the outset of the second half. Grove City held Chatham (8-12, 2-8 PAC) scoreless for the first 9:20 of the second half during the outburst.

Gebrosky drained a pair of three-point goals in scoring 10 of the first 11 points during the run. Junior forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) and sophomore forward Jayme Caldwell (Smithville, Ohio/Smithville) closed the run with consecutive layups.

Later in the half, Caldwell gave Grove City its largest lead of the night, 55-32, with a pair of free throws at the 3:47 mark.

Slater finished with 11 points and moved into ninth place on Grove City's all-time scoring list with 1,041 points. Senior forward Krista Beechy (Winesburg, Ohio/Berlin Hiland) added 10 points.

Grove City shot 23 of 52 (44 percent) from the field and held Chatham to a 12-of-40 (30 percent) effort on field goals. The Wolverines also forced 23 turnovers.

Senior forward Laura Miller (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) secured a game-high seven rebounds, helping Grove City earn a 37-23 edge on the glass. Sixteen of the rebounds came at the offensive end.

Felicia Brown led Chatham with nine points.

Grove City will visit Bethany Saturday at 2 p.m. in conference action.
