Chatham slips past Grove City in OT

PITTSBURGH -- Four Grove City players scored in double figures Wednesday night but host Chatham pulled out a 64-60 overtime victory over the visiting Wolverines in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's basketball action at the Chatham Center.

Chatham's Colleen Kiss hit a three-pointer at the end of regulation to tie the game at 52. In overtime, Chatham scored the first six points of the period and did not trail the rest of the game.

Sophomore guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) led Grove City with 18 points while senior forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) recorded a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double. Junior guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) fired in 12 points and senior Jenna Johnston (Strattanville, Pa./Clarion-Limestone) added 10.

Chatham (7-13, 3-9 PAC) jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the first half but Grove City slashed the lead to 27-22 by halftime. Johnston scored the first four points of the run while Gibson added a pair of three-point goals.

After seven lead changes in the second half, Grove City took a 52-49 lead with five seconds left on two Gibson foul shots. Kiss sent the game to overtime with her lone three-pointer of the night.

Grove City (10-10, 6-6 PAC) shot 29 percent (18 of 62) from the field while Chatham shot 42 percent (24 of 57). Grove City owned a 44-41 edge in rebounds. Johnston and senior Megan Gibson (Littlestown, Pa./Mars) both had four assists.

Sonjia Houston led Chatham with 13 points and nine rebounds. Kayla Hilko and Courtney Smith each had 11.

Grove City will host conference foe Bethany Saturday at 1 p.m.
