Saint Vincent clips Grove City, 58-46

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 12-12 overall Wednesday night with a 58-46 setback at No. 15 Saint Vincent (22-2, 14-1 PAC) in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Robert Carey Center.

Grove City trailed just by just three, 22-19, at halftime but Saint Vincent opened the second half on a 23-8 run. The Wolverines (7-8 PAC) pulled back into the game with an 11-2 run during the latter portion of the second half. Senior forward Christine Slater (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) started the run with a jumper and two free throws on the Wolverines' next possession.

Senior forward Alison Wells (Waterville, Vt./Lamoille) drained a pair of foul shots and junior guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) followed with a three-pointer that cut the lead to 51-40. Sophomore Alicia Maust (Natrona Heights, Pa./Cheswick Christian) closed the run by hitting two free throws with 4:16 left.

However, Saint Vincent's Emily Fenton drained a three-pointer and Melissa Mansur followed with a layup to help seal the win.

Slater led Grove City with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Wells recorded 11 points and nine rebounds while sophomore guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) added 10 points.

Grove City shot 15 of 43 (35 percent) from the field while Saint Vincent shot 23 of 61 (38 percent) from the floor. Maria Baroffio led Saint Vincent with 17 points. Brittany Sedlock posted a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double. Saint Vincent owned a 37-34 edge in rebounding.

Gebrosky also had five assists and senior Megan Gibson (Littlestown, Pa./Mars) tallied three assists.

The Wolverines will wrap up the regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. against conference rival Westminster.
