Wolverines drop title tilt

FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 56-47 decision to North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in the championship game of Frostburg State's Jim Crawley Tournament.

Grove City jumped out to an 8-1 lead and led 28-24 at halftime. However, North Carolina Wesleyan (2-1) surged ahead in the second half by holding the Wolverines without a field goal for over 10 minutes in the second half.

Senior guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) fired in a game-high 17 points for Grove City and earned All-Tournament honors. Junior guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) added nine points, five assists and five steals. She joined Gebrosky on the All-Tournament squad.

Grove City shot 36 percent (15 of 42) from the field while the Battling Bishops went 21 for 60 (35 percent). Grove City outrebounded North Carolina Wesleyan 42-37. Freshman Kelsey Shirey (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) led the Wolverines with seven rebounds.

A'leisha Henderson led North Carolina Wesleyan with 15 points.

Grove City (1-2) will open its home schedule Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Carnegie Mellon in non-conference action.
