Denison downs Grove City

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 66-45 decision to host Denison (6-3) Tuesday night in non-conference action at Livingston Gymnasium.

Grove City trailed by as many as 15, 34-19, in the first half before embarking on a 9-0 run that featured three-pointers from sophomore guard Sadie Malone (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mount Vernon) and senior guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley).

Denison broke open the game in the second half, however. The Big Red outscored Grove City 20-8 over the final 14 minutes of the game while holding Grove City without a field goal for the final 4:35 of the game.

Malone led Grove City (2-7) with 12 points on four three-point goals. Gebrosky added eight points and a game-high five assists. The Wolverines shot 19 of 47 (40 percent) from the floor while Denison shot 44 percent (27 of 61). Denison owned a 36-27 edge in rebounds. Sophomore forward Hannah Jo Coneby (Maple Shade, N.J./Baptist) led Grove City with five rebounds.

Serafina Nuzzo and Alyx Ingram led Denison with 12 points each. The Big Red turned over the ball just nine times and committed only six fouls in the game. Grove City had 22 turnovers.

The Wolverines will break for final examinations and Christmas before returning to action December 30 at Roberts Wesleyan. The non-conference game begins at 3 p.m.
