ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team returned to action after a 17-day layoff Friday afternoon with a hard-fought 60-48 setback at NAIA Roberts Wesleyan in non-conference action at the Voller Athletic Center.

Grove City trailed 29-20 but opened the second half with a 12-2 run that put the Wolverines ahead. Sophomore forward Hannah Jo Coneby (Maple Shade, N.J./Baptist) ignited the run with consecutive jumpers, which preceded back-to-back three-pointers from sophomore guard Sadie Malone (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mount Vernon).

Grove City then took a 32-31 lead with 13 minutes remaining on a jumper by sophomore Annie Wells (Waterville, Vt./Lamoillle). Grove City held Roberts Wesleyan (9-4) without a field goal for over nine minutes during that span.

Roberts Wesleyan used an 11-2 spurt to take a 42-34 lead but the Wolverines mounted one final charge at the Raiders. Malone drained a three-pointer and Coneby followed with three straight field goals. Junior guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) split two free throws with 3:24 left, cutting the gap to 45-44. Roberts Wesleyan outscored Grove City 11-2 in the final minute, however, to earn the win.
