Grove City falls to Thiel

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 3-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Wednesday night with a 65-53 setback against visiting Thiel in the Grove City College Arena.

Three Wolverine players scored in double figures. Sophomore forward Hannah Jo Coneby (Maple Shade, N.J./Baptist) poured in 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting while senior guard Megan Gebrosky (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) fired in 12 points on four three-point goals. Junior guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) added 10 points.

Thiel (4-12, 4-5 PAC) led 34-24 at halftime but Grove City pulled to within six, 45-39, on a Coneby free throw with 11:39 left. However, Thiel countered with a 7-0 run, sparked by Julia Monteleone's three-pointer.

Kelly Muffley led Thiel with 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Kelly Barzak added 14 points while Ashley Davis and Kiki Jackson both had 12.

Thiel shot 45 percent (25 of 56) from the floor, including a 14-for-26 (54 percent) effort in the first half. Grove City shot 42 percent (22 of 53) from the field. Thiel outrebounded Grove City 35-28. Gibson led the Wolverines (4-12 overall) with seven rebounds. She also had four assists.

Grove City will start the second half of the conference schedule Saturday afternoon at Bethany. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
