Grove City falls to Division II Malone
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 51-36 decision to NCAA Division II foe Malone Friday afternoon at Quicken Loans Arena.
Grove City (3-5) held Malone to 31 percent (21 of 67) shooting from the field, including a 9-for-36 (25 percent) effort in the second half. However, Grove City shot just 30 percent (14 of 47) from the floor.
Senior guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) paced Grove City with 11 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three steals. Freshman forward Ausinette Rodriguez (Frederick, Md./Urbana) added nine points while sophomore center Marie Carroll (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) had six points and seven rebounds.
Logan Pastor led Malone with 16 points and nine rebounds. Malone owned a 42-40 edge in rebounds. Malone also forced 24 Grove City turnovers.
Grove City will visit Chatham Wednesday, January 2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
