Wolverines fall in OT

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 54-51 overtime decision at Westminster Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Memorial Field House.

Grove City (6-7, 5-4 PAC) led 40-33 with 3:39 left but Westminster scored the final six points of regulation, sending the game to overtime in a 42-42 tie. In overtime, sophomore guard Cayley McClean (Airville, Pa./Kennard-Dale) put Grove City ahead 48-47 by drilling a three-pointer with 2:16 left.

Westminster's Gabby Holko gave Westminster the lead for good with one minute left, 50-48, by hitting her second three-point goal of overtime.

Sophomore guard Kelsey Shirey (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) led Grove City with 16 points while freshman forward Mary McDonald (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) recorded a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, her third double-double of the season.

Grove City went 20 of 62 (32 percent) from the field while holding Westminster to 28 percent (16 of 58) shooting. Holko led Westminster with 16 points while Jenn Cantella scored 13.

Westminster owned a 46-44 rebound edge. Grove City had 12 turnovers while Westminster committed 17 turnovers. Westminster made 15 of 22 foul shots while Grove City went 9 for 17 at the free throw line.

Grove City will host Thomas More Saturday at 1 p.m. in conference action at the Grove City College Arena.
