Thomas More tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 5-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 61-35 setback against No. 10 Thomas More (16-1, 10-0) at the Grove City College Arena.

Grove City pulled to within 22-19 by halftime but Thomas More opened the second half with 11 straight points.

Junior forward Annie Wells (Waterville, Vt./Lamoille Union) led Grove City with nine points and senior guard Leah Gibson (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) added eight points.

Grove City went 11 for 51 (21 percent) from the field for the game. The Wolverines limited Thomas More to 36 percent (23 of 64) shooting from the floor.

Allison Long led Thomas More with 13 points and eight assists. Katie Kitchen tallied eight points and 10 rebounds. Thomas More outrebounded Grove City 45-42. Freshman forward Ausinette Rodriguez (Frederick, Md./Urbana) led Grove City with 10 rebounds.

Grove City committed 24 turnovers while Thomas More had 13 turnovers.

The Wolverines (6-8 overall) host Waynesburg Wednesday at 6 p.m. in conference action.
