TMC tops Grove City

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 3-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by falling at Thomas More Saturday afternoon in the Connor Convocation Center. Thomas More, the nation's fifth-ranked team in NCAA Division III, secured a 112-49 win.

Junior guard Kelsey Shirey (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) and freshman guard Jackie Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) both scored a team-high eight points for Grove City. Sophomore Kathryn Erbelding (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) added six points and six rebounds.

Grove City shot 19 for 57 (33 percent) from the field while Thomas More (17-0, 10-0) went 39 for 63 (62 percent). Thomas More also owned a 39-30 edge in rebounds.

Senior forward Hannah Jo Coneby (Maple Shade, N.J./Baptist) led Grove City with seven rebounds.

Sydney Moss led Thomas More with 36 points and Jenny Burgoyne added 25.

Grove City (4-12 overall) will visit conference foe Waynesburg Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
