Grove City rolls past Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team evened its Presidents' Athletic Conference record at 7-7 by earning a 69-56 win at conference rival Geneva Saturday night at Metheny Field House.

Junior forward Kathryn Erbelding (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) poured in a game-high 20 points for the Wolverines while classmate Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) posted her second consecutive 13-point outing. Freshman guard Lexie Arkwright (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) added 11 points for Grove City.

Grove City broke open Saturday night's game with a 17-0 run midway through the first half that gave the Wolverines a 27-9 lead. Grove City pushed the lead to 34-15 by halftime.

Erbelding added nine rebounds, five assists and five steals while Arkwright recorded four steals. Galens grabbed seven rebounds to help Grove City own a 37-34 edge on the glass. Senior guard Brandy Nickoloff (Pittsburgh, Pa./St. Joseph) dished out three assists.

Grove City shot 28 for 57 (49 percent) from the field for the game while Geneva went 17 for 53 (32 percent). Geneva had 16 turnovers and Grove City committed 12. Miranda Heaney led Geneva with 15 points.

Grove City (9-12 overall) hosts Chatham in conference play Wednesday at 6 p.m.
