Alma rallies past Grove City
ALMA, Mich. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 75-56 decision at Alma in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Art Smith Arena. Grove City (2-7) led 49-46 entering the fourth quarter but the Scots (3-6) outscored Grove City 29-7 over the final 10 minutes.
Senior forward Kathryn Erbelding (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) led Grove City with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double while sophomore guard Lexie Arkwright (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) added nine points. Senior forward Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) posted eight points and eight rebounds.
Grove City shot 15 of 30 (50 percent) from the field in the first half and finished the game 23 of 60 (38 percent). Alma, meanwhile, went 28 of 54 (52 percent) from the floor.
Erbelding added three steals while junior guard Teresa Dallatore (Mars, Pa./Mars) distributed three assists. Grove City outrebounded Alma 34-31.
Kelsey Wolffis and Kassidy Blough each led Alma with 15 points. Alma had 13 turnovers while Grove City committed 21 turnovers.
Grove City closes 2015 by facing Kalamazoo at 2 p.m. Friday in non-conference play.
