Kalamazoo tops Wolverines

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 51-43 decision at Kalamazoo in non-conference play Thursday afternoon at Anderson Athletic Center. Kalamazoo (4-7) outscored Grove City 16-8 in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore guard Lexie Arkwright (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) led Grove City with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double. She also recorded three blocks and three steals. Senior forward Kathryn Erbelding (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) added nine points.

Defensively, Grove City limited Kalamazoo to 30 percent (17 of 56) shooting from the field. Grove City also limited the Hornets to three assists. Grove City shot 18 of 67 (27 percent) for the game.

Senior forward Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) and junior guard Teresa Dallatore (Mars, Pa./Mars) both pulled down seven rebounds for Grove City, helping the Wolverines own a 55-40 edge on the glass.

Erbelding also had three steals while freshman center Laura Buchanan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) blocked three shots.

Grace Smith led Kalamazoo with 19 points.

Grove City returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday night at archrival Geneva. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
