Bethany rallies past Grove City
BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team had its five-game win streak come to an end Wednesday night at Bethany as the host Bison rallied for a 64-55 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory at Hummel Field House.
Grove City (7-9, 5-4 PAC) led 33-18 at halftime but Bethany (7-9, 5-4) outscored the Wolverines 46-22 over the final two quarters.
Senior forward Kathryn Erbelding (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) became Grove City's 12th all-time 1,000-point scorer during the game as she fired in a game-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Erbelding also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. She is 12th all-time in program history with 1,022 career points.
Junior guard Jackie Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) added 10 points for Grove City.
Grove City shot 23 of 54 (43 percent) from the field while holding Bethany to a 23-of-66 (35 percent) effort. However, Bethany owned a 42-34 edge in rebounds. The Bison also forced 24 Grove City turnovers.
Junior guard Teresa Dallatore (Mars, Pa./Mars) recorded four assists.
Kelsea Daugherty led Bethany with 23 points.
Grove City will host Washington & Jefferson in conference play Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Grove City College Arena. Saturday's game marks the start of the second half of the conference schedule.
