Saint Vincent tops Grove City

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 9-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by dropping a 55-41 decision Saturday afternoon at Saint Vincent (12-11, 7-9 PAC) in the Carey Center.

Senior forward Kathryn Erbelding (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) led Grove City (11-12 overall) with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists while sophomore guard Lexie Arkwright (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Saint Vincent jumped out to a 21-5 lead in the second quarter but Grove City whittled the lead to 27-18 by halftime. Erbelding scored to open the third quarter, bringing the Wolverines to within 27-20. However, Saint Vincent countered with an 11-4 run.

Grove City finished the game 16 of 48 (33 percent) from the field while Saint Vincent went 23 of 57 (40 percent) on field goals. Saint Vincent owned a 38-32 edge in rebounds.

Mara Benvenuti led Saint Vincent with 20 points.

Grove City returns home Wednesday night to host conference foe Bethany at 5:30 p.m.
