January 30, 1999--The Lady Wolverines (8-9, 2-1 PAC) suffered their first
conference setback of the season at Washington and Jefferson (6-9, 2-2 PAC), falling to
the defending PAC champion Presidents, 69-60.
W&J's Regina Dixon poured in 25 points, including 11 of 12 from the free-throw line, and Amanda Niebauer tallied 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds. The Presidents made good on 27 of 32 shots (84.4%) from the charity stripe, including 19 of 22 in the second half.
Grove City's Karin Hendrickson (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington) and Krista Summers (Staunton, VA/Grace Christian) shared team-high honors with 12 points and seven rebounds apiece. Livia Wright (Economy, PA/Ambridge) chipped in with nine points and six boards, while Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) dished out a team-best five assists.
The Lady Wolverines trailed at halftime, 32-27, after netting just 8 of 28 shots
(28.6%) from the floor. They were outshot in the game, 38.5% (20-52) to 33.3%
(18-54).
The two teams go head-to-head again Tuesday at Grove City. Tip-off time is 7:00 p.m.
