GCC Evens PAC Mark With Win Over Thiel Box Score GROVE CITY, PA, January 22 , 2000 --Grove City rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Thiel, 65-54, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Lady Wolverines improved to 9-5 overall, 1-1 PAC. The Lady Cats fell to 7-8, 0-1 PAC. Cara Denniston (Grove City, PA/Grove City) tossed in 11 points off the bench, including four free throws in the final minute of play, to secure the victory. Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PA/Ferndale) hit three three-pointers in the game and tied Denniston for high-point honors with 11. Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) nailed a clutch three and a pair of foul shots down the stretch to finish with 10 points. Kristina Dixon (Smethport, PA/Smethport) also had 10 points for GCC. Lindsay Yeats (McLean, VA) and Jackie Becker (Broadview Hts., OH/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) each grabbed a team-high nine boards to help the L'Wolves post a 39-32 edge underneath. Denniston and Kegg added three steals apiece. Thiel's Tammy Willrich led all scorers in the game with 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting. The Cats' Amanda Brown pulled down a game-high 15 boards. |
