Lady Wolverines Cruise Past Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, PA, February 2, 2000 --Heather Gottshall (Valencia, PA/Knoch) recorded a career-high 15 points and 13 rebounds in her first collegiate start as Grove City eased past host Waynesburg, 65-35, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match-up.

The Lady Wolverines, winners of two straight and six of eight, improved to 11-6 overall, 2-2 in the PAC.  The Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 1-17, 0-4 PAC.

Kristina Dixon (Smethport, PA/Smethport) tied for high-point honors with 15 markers on 5-for-8 shooting.  Lindsay Yeats (McLean, VA/Langley) and Christy Faller (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) also scored in double figures with 10 points each.   Yeats added nine boards and Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PA/Ferndale) grabbed seven caroms.  Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) had four assists.

Grove City led 28-21 at intermission, then held Waynesburg to 14 second-half points on 4-for-26 shooting (15.4%).

Gottshall started in place of Jackie Becker, who suffered an ankle sprain last Saturday at Pitt-Bradford.  Becker, the team's leading scorer and rebounder, will find out Thursday whether she will be able to suit up Saturday when PAC front-runner Bethany visits GCC for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
