W&J Tops GCC, 61-55

GROVE CITY, PA, February 12, 2000 --The Lady Wolverines used a 16-5 run late in the second half to cut a 15-point deficit to four, but visiting Washington & Jefferson escaped with a 61-55 win at the College Arena.

Grove City dropped to 12-9 overall, 2-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.  Washington & Jefferson improved to 10-11 overall, 4-3 in the PAC.

W&J closed the first half with a 15-3 run to lead 31-19 at intermission and never trailed the rest of the way.

Lindsay Yeats (McLean, VA/Langley) recorded a double-double for GCC with 10 points and 10 rebounds, adding four assists and three blocked shots.

Kristina Dixon (Smethport, PA/Smethport) and Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PAFerndale) each chipped in with 11 points.

W&J's Amanda Niebauer scored a game-high 12 points.

Grove City hosts Westminster Tuesday, February 15, at 6:00 p.m.
