GCC Falls in ECAC Championship Game Box Score DOVER, DE, March 5, 2000--The Lady Wolverines' season ended in the ECAC Southern Championship Game on Sunday as Carnegie Mellon posted a 66-54 victory, ending Grove City's bid to capture its second ECAC crown in four years. Jackie Becker (Broadview Hts., OH/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) punctuated her Lady Wolverine career with a team-high 12 points and six rebounds. Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Lindsay Yeats (McLean, VA/Langley) netted 11 points each. Murphy hit 3 of 7 three-point attempts and added four rebounds and four assists. Yeats canned 5 of 9 from the floor, including her first triple of the season, and added four boards and three assists. Kristy Kegg (Johnstown, PA/Ferndale) had seven dishes. Carnegie Mellon was paced by Kara Coval's 17 points and 15 boards. CMU outrebounded GCC, 43-25. Grove City (16-13) trailed CMU (18-10) at halftime, 32-27. The Lady Wolverines have earned a spot in three of the last four ECAC South Region Championship Tournaments. They won the title in 1997, beating Ursinus in the finals at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. |
