Lady Wolverines win second
straight invite
NEW CASTLE, PA, April 15, 2002--Three top-ten finishes helped the Grove City
College women's golf team capture first place at the Westminster College
Invitational on Monday at New Castle Country Club.
The victory marked the Lady Wolverines' second straight invitational title. They won the Thiel Invitational last Thursday at Greenville Country Club.
Freshman Mary Brown (Carnegie, PA/Carlynton) fired a team-low 50 to place fourth in the field of 33, while junior Kristin Costanzo (Powell, OH/Olentangy) took fifth with a 51. Sophomore Danielle Balliet (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) rounded out the top ten with a round of 55. Lynne Szarnicki of Washington & Jefferson carded a 47 to win individual medalist honors
Grove City won with a team score of 213 followed by host Wetsminster (229), Pitt-Greensburg (239), Penn State Behrend (250) and Thiel (257). W&J and Waynesburg competed but did not field full teams.
