Grove City takes 2nd in fall opener
LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team opened the fall portion of the 2008-09 schedule September 19 by placing second at Saint Vincent College's five-team Lady Bearcat Invitational at Glengarry Links. Grove City accumulated 405 strokes as a team. Washington & Jefferson won the team title with a 362. Pitt-Johnstown (418), West Virginia Wesleyan (424) and Saint Vincent (498) rounded out the field.
Junior Shayla Benninger (Butler, Pa./Butler) paced Grove City by finishing third overall with an 86. Junior Renee Ward (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) placed fifth with an 89. W&J's Leslie Walker shot a 75 to earn medalist.
Grove City will continue its fall schedule September 30-October 1 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Match at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa.
