Wolverines win PAC Fall Invitational; Durling earns medalist
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- Junior Esther Durling (Perry, Mich./Perry) recorded a two-day total of 158 to win medalist honors as the Grove City College women's golf team placed won the team title at the two-day Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Oak Tree Country Club. Grove City finished the 36-hole event with a team score of 721.
Westminster finished 26 strokes behind the Wolverines with a 747 while Saint Vincent was third with a 750.
Durling posted identical rounds of 79 each day to take a three-stroke victory over Saint Vincent's Sarah Rebitch for the individual title. With the win, Durling has now earned medalist honors in each of the four PAC Invitationals that she has competed.
Senior Kayla Finney (Valencia, Pa./Mars) finished third overall with a 178 and junior Meghan Love (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) tied for eighth with a 185.
The team scores from the Fall Invitational will carry over into the spring championships, scheduled for April 22-23, 2012. The individual scores do not count toward All-PAC honors, however. The All-Conference teams will solely be based upon the spring portion of the championships.
