Grove City competes in first NCAA Championships

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The Grove City College women's golf team wrapped up its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships late Friday morning on El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort and Club.

The Wolverines, who were seeded 19th in the 21-team field, posted a 54-hole team score of 1212 to match their seeding with a 19th-place finish. A cut to 12 teams was made following round three due to several weather delays limiting the available time to complete competition.

Three-time Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Year Esther Durling (Jr., Perry, Mich./Perry) led the Wolverines with a 264 to finish tied for 66th in the 110 golfer field. After shooting 94 and 90 in Rounds One and Two, respectively, Durling found her rhythm by posting an 80 in Round Three, which tied for the 17th-best score of that round.

Senior Kayla Finney (Valencia, Pa./Mars) posted a three-day score of 294 in her final collegiate competition, including a best round of 93 during Round Two.

Freshman Jordan Greenwall (Denver, Colo./Arapahoe) shot a 319 for the weekend while junior Meghan Love (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and senior Victoria VanBuskirk (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) posted scores of 337 and 362, respectively.

Grove City received the PAC's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Championships by virtue of winning its second-straight conference title this spring.
