Wolverines finish fourth at Westminster Invite
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team finished tops among Presidents' Athletic Conference schools and fourth overall in their first competition of the fall 2014 season at the eight-team Westminster College Invitational on a rainy Saturday afternoon at the New Castle Country Club.
Grove City's foursome combined for an 18-hole score of 422, which was second only to Carnegie Mellon's 367 among NCAA Division III schools at the event
Senior Esther Durling (Perry, Mich./Perry) fired a 96 to lead the Wolverines and finish in a tie for ninth place among the 35 golfers who finished their rounds.
Freshman Carolyn Jack (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) finished second on the team and 16th overall with a 104 in her first round competing for Grove City while senior Meghan Love (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and sophomore Leah Wilson (Solon, Ohio/Solon) shot 109 and 113, respectively.
NCAA Division II-member Mercyhurst won the team title with a score of 352 while the Lakers' Gaelin Carrig shot an 82 to earn medalist honors.
Grove City returns to action on Tuesday for their own Fall Invitational at the Grove City Country Club.
