Grove City in third after first day
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team sits in third place after Day One of competition at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Championships, held at the New Castle Country Club on Monday.
The Wolverines recorded a team score of 398. Washington & Jefferson leads the team competition with a 377 while Thomas More shot a 396 to hold a two-stroke edge on Grove City for second.
Senior Esther Durling (Perry, Mich./Perry) stands in first place individually among the 37-golfer field after carding an 89, leading the Presidents' Marissa Suder by one stroke. Freshman Carolyn Jack (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) posted a 94 in her first conference championship round to rank fourth after the first day while junior Rebecca Shakely (Butler, Pa./Butler) is tied for 20th with a 107.
Senior Meghan Love (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) sits one stroke back of Shakely with a 108 while sophomore Leah Wilson (Solon, Ohio/Solon) rounded out the Wolverine contingent with a 114.
Day Two of competition is slated to begin tomorrow morning at 8:30.
