Wolverines fifth at Spring Invite
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team opened the 2016 spring season with a fifth-place score of 442 at their own Spring Invitational at the Grove City Country Club on a windy Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Carolyn Jack (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) paced the Wolverines with a 16th-place score of 101 while senior Rebecca Shakely (Butler, Pa./Butler) tied for 19th in the 39-golfer field with a 106. Freshman Molly Arendt (Coldwater, Mich./Hillsdale Academy) posted a 117 while senior Katie Birmingham (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) rounded out Grove City's scoring four with a 118.
Freshman Ashley Winters (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) shot a 120 on the day while junior Leah Wilson (Solon, Ohio/Solon) fired a 123 while competing as an individual.
Led by medalist honors from Summer Kitahara, who shot a 79, Carnegie Mellon captured the team title in the seven-team tournament with a 344.
The Wolverines will play Malone in a head-to-head match on Friday at Legends of Massillon Golf Course in Massillon, Ohio.
