Grove City College Women's Golf

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team concluded the 2015-16 Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships in fourth place out of seven teams with a score of 1,687 strokes after posting a 36-hole total of 845 at the 2016 PAC Spring Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Grove City Country Club.

The 2015-16 PAC Championships feature a 72-hole stroke play event, with 36 holes contested at the Fall Championships and another 36 holes played at the Spring Championships. The combined 72-hole team total will determine the 2015-16 PAC team champions and winners of the league's men's and women's automatic qualifying bids to the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships.

Sophomore Carolyn Jack (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) shot a 209 over the two spring rounds to lead Grove City, shooting a 98 on Friday before posting a 111 on Saturday. Freshman Ashley Winters (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) was second among the Wolverines in the spring with a 36-hole score of 211 (105-106) while senior Rebecca Shakely (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded a 213 (100-103) in the final tournament of her collegiate career. Junior Leah Wilson (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and freshman Molly Arendt (Coldwater, Mich./Hillsdale Academy) rounded out Grove City's scores with a 216 (110-106) and 221 (112-109), respectively.

For the tournament, Jack finished 17th overall out of 28 golfers with a 72-hole total of 408. Shakely was 19th with a 429 while Arendt and Winters were 20th (436) and 21st (437).

Washington and Jefferson won the team title for the second year in a row with a 72-hole score of 1,417 strokes. Thomas More was second with 1,525 while Saint Vincent finished third with 1,539. W&J's Jocelyn Sudar earned PAC Player of the Year laurels with a four-round score of 334, edging Waynesburg's Abbey Richards' mark of 338.

Grove City loses Shakely and Katie Birmingham (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) to graduation.
