FREDONIA, NY, September 7, 2001--The Grove City College women's soccer team reversed its 0-2 start with a 6-1 victory over Juniata College in the first round of the SUNY-Fredonia Tournament in Fredonia, NY Friday.  The Lady Wolverines advance to Saturday's championship game at 4:00 p.m. against either Fredonia State or Medaille College.

Sophomore Meg Tilley (Columbia, MD/Hammond) scored a hat trick and freshman Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington) added two goals as Grove City cruised to the five-goal victory following a pair of one-goal defeats.  Novosel opened the scoring with an unassisted goal, then Tilley put the Lady Wolverines ahead 3-0 at halftime with two tallies -- the first assisted by sophomore Lindsey Cuffe (Columbia Falls, MT/Columbia Falls), the second unassisted.  Senior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central) netted a goal five minutes into the second half off a pass from sophomore Danielle Balliet (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel).  Balliet then fed Novosel, who scored her second goal in the 60th minute.  Tilley completed her hat trick in the 70th minute on an assist from junior Jen Bailey (Simsburg, CT/The Masters School).

Senior goalkeeper Erica Long (Cranberry Twp., PA/Slippery Rock) made three saves in the first half before giving way to junior goalkeeper Katy Turman (Abington, PA/Abington) at the start of the second half.  Turman made four saves and allowed one goal.
