CMU slips past GCC, 2-1

GROVE CITY, PA, September 12, 2001--The Lady Wolverine soccer team dropped to 1-3-1 on the season Thursday, losing to visiting Carnegie Mellon, 2-1, in overtime.  All three Grove City losses have been decided by one goal.

After CMU took a 1-0 lead in the second minute, Grove City sophomore forward Meg Tilley (Columbia, MD/Hammond) tied the score in the 20th minute with her team-high fourth goal of the season.  Freshman forward Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington) picked up the assist.

The Lady Tartans netted the game-winner four minutes into the first overtime session and improved to 4-0-0 overall.

Earlier this week, Tilley was named Presidents' Athletic Conference player of the week after recording three goals and an assist at the Fredonia State Tournament last weekend.  The Lady Wolverines won the tournament on penalty kicks against host Fredonia State.
