GCC blanks third PAC foe

GREENVILLE, PA, October 2, 2001--With half of its conference schedule now complete, the Lady Wolverine soccer team has left little doubt who's the team to beat.

Grove City College improved to 4-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference on Tuesday, cruising past host Thiel College, 4-0.  The Lady Wolverines, who evened their overall record at 5-5-2, have outscored their first four league opponents, 14-1.

Sophomore Meg Tilley (Columbia, MD/Hammond) broke a scoreless tie in the 41st minute with an unassisted goal to account for the only scoring of the first half.  Freshman Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington) then added two goals in the first three minutes of the second half, the first assisted by sophomore Lindsey Cuffe (Columbia Falls, MT/Columbia Falls) and the second coming unassisted.  Junior Karen Reefer (Butler, PA/Slippery Rock) capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 59th minute.  Tilley and Novosel now lead the team in scoring with seven goals apiece.  Reefer's goal marked her first of the season.

The Lady Wolverines out-shot the Lady Cats, 24-3. 

Grove City has won three straight games and is unbeaten in its last four.
