Grove City records fifth straight shutout

GROVE CITY, PA, October 6, 2001--The Lady Wolverine soccer team extended its winning streak to four games and improved to 5-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 4-0 shutout over visiting Washington & Jefferson College Saturday afternoon.

Grove City, unbeaten in its last five games (4-0-1), has outscored its first five PAC opponents, 18-1.

The Lady Wolverines led 1-0 at halftime on junior Karen Reefer's (Butler, PA/Slippery Rock) second goal of the season in the 23rd minute.  Senior Kathy Keehlwetter (Mercer, PA/Mercer) was credited with the assist on a nifty crossing pass.

Freshman Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington), sophomore Meg Tilley (Columbia, MD/Hammond) and freshman Leah Partridge (Newport, VT/United Christian Academy) each added an unassisted goal in the second half.  Novosel and Tilley each boosted their season goal total to eight, while Partridge picked up her first collegiate goal.

Senior Erica Long (Cranberry Twp, PA/Slippery Rock) and junior Katy Turman (Abington, PA/Abington) combined on the team's fifth consecutive shutout.

Grove City, now 6-5-2 overall, out-shot W&J, 29-4.  The Presidents fell to 1-11 overall, 0-5 in the PAC.
